Yesterday’s Play | 2005 | 4'30 | Mandarin, Teochew

The film explores the complex relationship between a mother and her son. As part of a daily routine, the mother berates the son vehemently while he goes about indifferent to his mother, but represses a host of inner thoughts.

Ryan Tan Wei Liang
Ryan Tan is a graduate of Singapore’s Ngee Ann Polytechnic. With Yesterday’s Play, he won a Silver Award at the 2006 Singapore Crowbar Awards, which is given out to promising student filmmakers. The film has travelled to countries as varied as the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, Korea, Poland, India, Czech Republic and Serbia.
